Factions of al-Qaeda in Idlib and Lattakia merge into military body

On Tuesday, local activists said that several factions of the Base of Jihad in the provinces of Idlib and Latakia joined in one military body under the name of Organization Of Religious Guards.

The new organization includes the Army of the Badia, the Army of the Sahel, the secret of Kabul, Saraya Al-Sahel and the Army of Epics and Jund al-Sharia, under the leadership, Abu Hammam al-Shami, according to the activists.

Activists pointed out that the new organization includes a number of the formerly Nasra Front leaders who refused to disengage from al-Qaeda and their transformation into the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham(HTS), including Abu Jleib Tubas, Abu Khadija, Sami al-Aridi and Abu Abdulrahman al-Makki.

The organization of religious guards set up new accounts on the social media sites and published its first statement, calling for the support to Eastern Ghouta, Damascus. He also vowed to launch a military operation against the Syrian government. He called on the military factions in Northern Syria to stop the fighting among themselves.

The announcement of the new organization published at a time when the battles took apart between the HTS and the Syrian Liberation Front, which is formerly the movements of Nur al-Din Zanki and Islamic Ahrar al-Sham, in the province of Idlib. The Syrian Liberation Front advanced in several areas.
