On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the international military response to the chemical massacre in the city of Douma will be made within days, and that they will investigate the chemical capabilities of the Syrian government.

Macron added in a joint press conference with the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman that they will investigate the Syrian government's chemical weapons, but not those of the Syrian government's allies. Macron noted that they will make the decision within days.

Bin Salman stated that Saudi Arabia might participate in an international response against the Syrian government "if necessary". Bin Salman added, "There is no doubt that we will decide to intervene in Syria if our allies decide to do so".

Earlier on Tuesday, Benjamin Griveaux, the spokesperson for the French government, stated that Paris would intervene if the Syrian government crosses the "red line," referencing the use of chemical weapons.

On Saturday, Syrian government helicopters dropped toxic gas barrels on the city of Douma, suffocating dozens of civilians and injuring hundreds, according to activists and medical sources. Local and international parties condemned the massacre.
