Damascus - SMART

Syrian government forces arrested seniors civilians in al-Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, amid continued looting and theft after they seized control of the camp as part of the agreement to evacuate the Islamic State.

Recently displaced reporters from Southern Damascus said that the government forces arrested 20 seniors, who have refused to go out in recent years, in the Yarmouk camp. The journalist Matar Ismail documented on his Facebook page the names of detainees.

The Working Group for the Palestinians of Syria said that this Syrian government's arrest campaign in the Yarmouk refugee camp was the first one since it seized control of the camp last Monday.

Syrian activists, through social media, are circulating photos and videos taken by members of the government forces and their supporting militia. The pictures and videos show looting houses and public and private properties in Yarmouk refugee camp amid the destruction of most of the buildings.
