Raqqa - SMART

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested a group affiliated with the Islamic State in Raqqa. One of the members is IS commander known as the French Abu Ousama. The SDF described the commander as “the most dangerous IS terrorist.”

The SDF media office reported on their official website that the Special Operating Units of the SDF military intelligence have performed a special operation and arrested several IS fighters. The fighters include a French commander named Adrian Lionel Kiali, known as the French Abu Ousama with his wife.

The media office added that Kiali played an important role in the terrorist attacks in Paris in Nov. 2015 and in Nice in July 2016.

On Tuesday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) arrested three people for belonging to the IS. On Monday, the YPG also arrested a family of ten, including women and children “for security reasons.”

The Kurdish Intelligence continue to arrest displaced families from the IS-controlled areas for security reasons. The SDF prevent the displaced people of Deir ez-Zor from entering the camps in their controlled areas in Hasaka and Raqqa because of the overcrowded camps.
