The Civil Defense in the Jisr al-Shughur area, 30 kilometers west of Idlib, Northern Syria, launched a campaign to restore public buildings and clean roads in the town of Badama, as Eid al-Fitr approaches.

The Syrian Civil Defense in the  Jisr al-Shughur sector said that they launched a service campaign, called Martyr Abd Allah al-Shaikh.The campaign was named after Abd Allah al-Shaikh, who was killedon Dec. 31 while he was searching for survivors with some Civil Defense volunteers in the town of Badama.

The spokesman for the Civil Defense Center in the town of Badama, Yahya Daoud, told SMART that the campaign now includes roads and vital areas in the town of Badama. It will last for three days. He stated that if the situation is appropriate in the western countryside, the campaign could continue to include the villages of Mara'and and Najia.

Daoud added that the participants in the campaign so far are the Civil Defense volunteers of the Badama center. He said that the main streets covered by the campaign are al-Basateen Street, Maysaloon Street, al-Furousiya Street, and al-Furqan Street.

Last March, the local council in the village of al-Maalaqa in Jisr al-Shughur started implementing a project to repair the central water station after four years of suspension. The region is suffering from poor services due to ongoing shelling by the loyalist forces and lack of support for service projects.
