Quneitra - SMART

On Monday, a Free Syrian Army (FSA) faction targeted a vehicle of the Iranian Quds Brigade, which supports the Syrian government forces, in the city of al-Baath, Quneitra, Southern Syria.

Abu Ahmed Julani, the commander of the Osoud Golan Brigade that targeted the vehicle, told SMART that their fighters in the town of Samadaniya al-Gharbiya targeted the vehicle near a governorate council building. The brigade used medium caliber machine guns and sniper fire, setting fire to the vehicle. The number of casualties remains unknown.

On Monday, a member of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia was killed and another was wounded in an attempt to infiltrate the village of Umm Batna (7 kilometers east of Quneitra).

The military and political situation changes rapidly in the governorates of Daraa and Quneitra in Southern Syria. Dozens of FSA factions formed a new faction called the Rescue Army. The Syrian government forces continue their military escalation in Daraa, and there are reports that the government forces intend to launch a large-scale military operation in the region.
