Daraa - SMART

Loyalist forces committed intensified aerial and artillery shelling on Nawa city in Daraa, Southern Syria, killing more than 17 civilians and injuring others.

Local activists said that loyalist forces used dozens of explosive barrels and artillery shells to target the city's residential neighborhoods. The attack on Tuesday night killed 17 civilians, including women and children and entire families, while injuring dozens more.

This attack came after a round of negotiations between the city's representatives and Russia concluded. No further news on the results of these negotiations has been shared.

On Tuesday, a suspected loyalist forces airstrike on the villages at the administrative border between the Daraa and Quneitra governorates killed more than 13 civilians, most of them women and children, and injured dozens more.

Over the last two days, the loyalist forces escalated the bombing on the villages at the administrative border between the two governorates in an attempt to advance towards them. The Free Syrian Army and the Islamist factions attempted to block this advance.
