Hama - SMART

On Tuesday, unknown persons assassinated a fighter from the Jaysh al-Naser faction of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) near the city of Qalat al-Madiq in Hama, Central Syria.

Activists reported that unknown persons riding a motorcycle killed one fighter and injured another by shooting them from behind.

Activists noted that the assassination occurred while the two fighters were headed for their gathering post at the al-Sabaa checkpoint, near the village al-Touiyah in Qalat al-Madiq.

This assassination came days after a similar incident occurred in the area, when unknown persons assassinated the security official of the Qalat al-Madiq area, Ahmad Dhafer Abdul Karim.

Areas under the FSA and the Islamist factions' control often have assassination attempts against fighters and military leaders, as well as explosive device and car bomb attacks, which kill militants and civilians.
