Hama - SMART

An explosion at a gas cylinder filling warehouse in Hama, Central Syria injured 15 workers.

Local sources reported that the explosion was heard in the industrial area and the neighborhoods of Aleppo Road, al-Arba’in and al-Qusoor. They added that a fire caused the explosion, without knowing what initiated it.

The Syrian Government media quoted the Firefighting Team Commander, Thaer al-Hasan, as saying that the warehouse fills and trades the gas cylinders illegally and without permission. He added that they transferred the injured to the national hospital.

On June 23, 2018, a fire started in the al-Tawil market, one of Hama’s most famous markets. Residents accused the Syrian government forces of starting the fire.
