Al-Quneitra - SMART

On Thursday, activists exchanged a voice record sent by a Russian officer to the Fursan al-Golan Brigade of the Free Syria Army (FSA), which operates in the al-Quneitra governorate, Southern Syria.

The Russian officer addressed the message to commanders from the brigade, asking them to stop targeting the bulldozer that is opening the road to the village of al-Hamidiah. The activists confirmed that the record was accurate.

The Russian officer said, "I warn you, if you do not stop targeting the bulldozer, we will attack your locations. We agreed to open the road with Israel."

The Russian officer added, "I will ride this bulldozer and move with it. I just spoke with Tel Aviv. I ask you to stop the fire immediately."

Russia and the FSA reached a ceasefire agreement, which will start from Thursday morning to an undefined date. The two parties also agreed on a settlement for people who wish to stay in al-Quneitra. The agreement included a total amnesty and preventing persecution of dissidents and civilians.

This agreement followed a military escalation by the loyalist forces that bombed several areas in al-Quneitra. The bombings killed and injured civilians and forces hundreds of people to displace to areas in the Daraa governorate, which already signed agreements with Russia, or to the border area with the occupied Golan.
