Deir Ez-Zor, SMART

On Monday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) liberated a Yazidi family from the grip of the Islamic State (IS) in the perimeter of the city of Hajin 97 kilometers southeast of Deir Ez-Zor, Eastern Syria.

A source in the SDF, who preferred to be anonymous, reported that the family includes five members. The source added that the SDF continue their military operations in the area as a part of the second level of the al-Jazeera Storm campaign against the IS.

The source added that they handed the family over to the Deir Ez-Zor Military Council so that the latter hands the family over to the Kurdish Women’s Protection Units that run a committee to back Yazidi abducted women to Yazidi areas in Syria and Iraq.

Local activists reported that SDF fighters found the family in villages surrounding Hjin; however, the activists reported nothing about the way of the family’s liberation.

On Sunday, an SDF military source reported that they received military support from the International Coalition troops and were about to finish preparations to start launch battles in the two cities of Hajin and al-Shu’fa and town of al-Susa in Deir Ez-Zor.
