Turkey - SMART

The United States President Donald Trump warns the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of  a "reckless attack" on the governorate of Idlib, Northern Syria.

Trump tweeted on his Twitter account, "President Bashar al-Assad of Syria must not recklessly attack Idlib Province," adding that "hundreds of thousands of people could be killed."

Trump added that Russia and Iran "would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take part in this potential human tragedy," calling for not letting that happen.

On Sunday, Pope Francis warned of a "humanitarian disaster" in Idlib, in which the Syrian government threatens to launch a military operation.

The United Nations and European countries warned against the use of chemical weapons in Idlib, the threat to the lives of more than one million children, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians if the Syrian government launches an attack.

The Syrian government threatened to storm the governorate of Idlib, most of which is outside its control. The Syrian government began sending military reinforcements to Idlib after it seized Southern Syria.
