Aleppo - SMART

On Wednesday, a landmine exploded near a car wash in the center of the city of Manbij, 80 kilometers east of Aleppo, Northern Syria, killing a child.

A local source from Manbij told SMART that a landmine exploded in a car wash, about 500 meters south of the al-Hikma hospital, in the center of the city of Manbij, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The source added that the landmine exploded when a child stepped over it as he was trying to fill a bottle of water from the car wash, killing him immediately.

Activists said that the explosion also wounded two SDF members, but they were not sure, because the SDF imposed a security cordon at the site of the explosion and prevented journalists and people from taking photos.

Explosions are common in the city of Manbij, targeting mostly SDF members. On Aug. 30, an explosive device exploded in a car of the Manbij military council in the Sabea Baharat roundabout, resulting in the amputation of the driver's legs.

Earlier, unknown gunmen attacked the building of the Manbij military court in the wake of repeated explosions in the city, leading to civilian casualties.
