Syrian government forces arrest women in Eastern Damascus for their contact with their displaced sons

Syrian government forces arrested women from Eastern Ghouta, Damascus, because of their contact with their displaced sons, Northern Syria.

On Wednesday, local activists said on their social media sites that they documented the arrest of five women in the city of Douma on Aug. 25 because of contacting with their sons via phone. Earlier this month, the Syrian government forces also arrested six other women for the same reason. The activists stated that there are daily arrests.

The activists stated that there are other cases, but they can not disclose them for security reasons. They expressed their willingness to disclose them to the international courts in case the international community decided to hold the Syrian government accountable for its crimes.

The Syrian government forces also arrested dozens of civilians as soon as they entered cities and towns in Eastern Ghouta and the western and eastern Qalamoun, amid the spread of thefts especially of women's jewelry, despite the Russian guarantees for the factions and civilians when contracting the displacement agreements.
