On Thursday, Jordan closed the only medical clinic in the al-Rukban camp for forcibly displaced people (FDP) on the Jordanian border, 237 kilometers southeast of Homs, Central Syria.

Mahmoud Qasem al-Hmeli, the head of the media office of the civil administration in the camp, reported that five days ago, Jordan prevented cars from entering the medical clinic, which is located 3 kilometers inside the Jordanian border. No reason was giving for the new ban.

Al-Hmeli added that the medical clinic was the only clinic accessible to the FDP in al-Rakban, noting that there were other clinics in the camp, but they provided first aid only.

Al-Hmeli noted that the civil administration met the organizations supporting the medical clinic to discuss the reasons behind the closure. Both sides held Jordan responsible for closing the medical clinic.

In July 2018, dozens of FDP families left the al-Rukban camp for areas controlled by the Syrian government due to the poor services, poor medical conditions, and lack of security.
