Quneitra - SMART

On Monday, the Syrian government forces prevented people from traveling from the Quneitra governorate in Southern Syria to the closeby Daraa governorate and vice versa.

A local source told SMART that a Syrian government military security checkpoint near the village of Ayn al-Tinah returned all people from Quneitra heading for Daraa, informing them that “it is prohibited for them to pass without a security clearance.”

The source noted that people feared a travel ban, as Quneitra is totally dependant on Daraa for food, medical supplies, and doctors.

Last Sunday, a Syrian government General Intelligence Directorate checkpoint in the town of al-Aliyah (43 kilometers north of Daraa city) prevented buses carrying people from Daraa from crossing to Quneitra, without stating the reasons.
