Syrian government militias confiscate unregistered cars in al-Quneitra

On Thursday, Syrian government forces militias confiscated unregistered cars in the al-Quneitra governorate, Southern Syria.   

A local source reported that the owners of the confiscated cars bought them when the Free Syrian Army was controlling the governorate. The source noted that the cars were registered in Shari’a courts, which existed by then. The source added that it was difficult to register the vehicles in  Syrian government courts, as the civilians could not travel to areas controlled by the Syrian government.

The source added that the militias belong to different security branches launch raids to search for unregistered cars or confiscate cars at checkpoints.

Earlier, the Syrian government forces launched a campaign in which they confiscated dozens of civilians’ motorcycle in the city of Hama. The Syrian government forces seized the motorcycles although their owners have legal documents. The Syrian government forces did not impound motorcycles belonging to the militias.
