Deir al-Zor - SMART

The International Coalition sends military reinforcements to the al-Tanak oil field base in Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria.

A source reported that dozens of ammunition vehicles arrived at the base near the al-Tanak oil field. The source estimated that there were around 300 vehicles and 30 Hummer armored vehicles.

The reinforcements arrived as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched the final stage of the al-Jazeera battle against the Islamic State in its last strongholds in Eastern Deir al-Zor.

An intense SDF artillery shelling hit the edges of the village of al-Susa, injuring IS members, as the SDF advanced in the area.

The SDF are now close to the neighborhoods of Falastin, al-'Arqoub, and al-Safafina, and the Mouzan crossroad and roads leading to Darbouna, al-Shahadat, al-'Aliyat, and al-Buwaidaran. There are still civilians in these areas; however, the IS prevented them from entering the locations of the clashes.
