On Thursday, a bomb explosion killed a child and injured another near a shop in the city of Atarib, 35 kilometers west of Aleppo, Western Syria. The Civil Defense transported the injured to the hospital.

Mustafa Maqsour, the head of the police station in Atarib said that unknown detonators planted the bomb behind a house door. Maqsour added that investigations were still ongoing and they did not accuse any party of responsibility for planting the bomb.

On August 31, 2018. A landmine explosion injured a member of the free police in Atarib and another bomb explosion injured the head of the police station along with a member.

Explosions are frequent in areas controlled by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Islamist battalions in Northern Syria, killing and injuring dozens of civilians and military commanders. The FSA accuses the Syrian government forces or Islamic State of being responsible for these bombings
