Factions of the National Army of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) gained control of several headquarters of the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction in the city of Afrin, 34 kilometers north of Aleppo, Northern Syria, amidst ongoing clashes between the town factions.

Sources reported that the National Army factions gained control of three al-Sharqiyah Martyrs headquarters in Afrin during the security campaign against them.

The al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction's headquarters are located in the Villa area, al-Mahmoudiya area, and the al-Nayrouz roundabout in Afrin. The sources added that the National Army factions gained control of two headquarters, and a third without clashes. The sources noted that the National Army factions attempted to gain control of two other headquarters in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that they saw Turkish military vehicles, including pickup trucks and 57 millimeter machine guns. The Turkish Army did not intervene directly in the clashes, but supervises the operations and provides logistic support, according to the eyewitnesses.

On Sunday morning, the FSA launched a security campaign against the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction and imposed a curfew in Afrin. The clashes killed three fighters of the National Army and injured others, including six civilians, one of whom received critical injuries.
