Idlib - SMART

On Monday, people found the body of a field commander in the Nur al-Din al-Zanki Movement of the National Liberation Front in Northern Idlib, Northern Syria.

The Nur al-Din al-Zanki Movement is one of the most prominent military formations against the Syrian government in Aleppo. The Movement’s fighters are mainly deployed in the western regions of the governorate. It has previously received the support of Tao missiles from the United States.

Local activists reported that the body is for the commander, Mohammed Yousef al-Sayyid. About ten days ago, unknown persons kidnapped al-Sayyid, and there were negotiations for his release. The activists added that the body was transferred to the Bab al-Hawa hospital.

The activists added that the people found the body near the Clubeid checkpoint on the road leading to the town of Aqrabat (50 kilometers north of Idlib).

Kidnappings spread in Idlib. Unknown persons target fighters or commanders from factions in the area. Other kidnappings target civilians in order to request ransom for their release.
