Turkey - SMART

On Monday, the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces said that the Free Syrian Army (FSA) is ready and intends to retaliate the repeated violations committed by the Syrian government forces and Iran against the Turkish-Russian demilitarization agreement in the Idlib governorate, Northern Syria.

In a statement obtained by SMART, the Syrian Coalition condemned the breaches and crimes by the Syrian government forces and their allied Iranian militias in Northern Syria, including the Jarjanaz town and al-Tah village massacres in Southern Idlib.

The coalition said that the international community is responsible for the realization of the Turkish-Russian agreement to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Idlib, demanding the international community to pressure the Syrian government into committing to the agreement and moving the diplomatic process forward. The Syrian Coalition added that violating the agreement is "playing with fire."

The Syrian government forces frequently target the towns of Southern and Eastern Idlib with artillery and missile shells, killing and injuring civilians, although the area is included in the demilitarization agreement concluded by the Russian president and his Turkish counterpart in September 2018.
