SDF gains control of buildings in Hajin city, Deir al-Zor

On Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) gained control of three buildings in the city of Hajin, 95 kilometers east of Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, after battles against the Islamic State (IS).

The SDF are mainly comprised of the Kurdish People's Protection Units in addition to Arab, Turkmen, and Assyrian/Syriac military factions. The SDF is supported by the United States-backed International Coalition against the Islamic State and fought them in al-Raqqa, Deir al-Zor, Aleppo, and al-Hasakah in Northeastern Syria.

A military source reported that the SDF gained control of the recruitment branch building, the district council building, and the court building, after clashes with the IS in the city.

The source added that the IS targeted a group of SDF members using a car bomb, injuring a number of them, without specifying their number. The IS also destroyed two Van cars of the SDF, according to the source.

On Sunday, the SDF attacked the city of Hajin in several directions, amid violent clashes between the two sides, then the SDF gained control of the national hospital in the city.

The SDF tries to expel the IS from its last enclave in Deir al-Zor. On Tuesday, the SDF gained control of most of the al-Baghouz al-Tahtani village, 120 kilometers southeast of Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, following days of clashes against the IS. The SDF has controlled the Iraqi border line.
