Deir al-Zor - SMART

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is allied with the Syrian government, seized civilians' houses in the village of Suwayiah in the Dier al-Zor governorate, Eastern Syria.

On Friday, a local source told SMART that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard seized three civilian houses to turn them into reception centers for the Shia pilgrims coming to visit religious places in Suwayiah of the Albu Kamal area, 120 kilometers east of Deir al-Zor.

Earlier, the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, which is allied with the Syrian government also, seized four civilian houses in the city of Albu Kamal.

The Iranian, Iraqi, and Lebanese Shia militias frequently bring the families of their members to settle them in civilians' houses in the militia-controlled areas in Deir al-Zor, in attempt to control the area through purchasing real estates and opening institutes to teach Persian Language and the Shia faith.
