On Saturday, the Turkish Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu said that about 300 thousand Syrian refugees have returned from Turkey to the areas in Aleppo, Northern Syria, that are controlled by the Euphrates Shield and the Olive Branch factions.

Soylu added that 291,790 Syrians have returned to northern and eastern Aleppo after the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Turkish Army gained control of the area and expelled the Islamic State and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from it, according to the Anadolu news agency.

The Turkish Army and FSA have launched two military operations in Northern Aleppo, the Euphrates Shield in August 2016 in the Jarabulus area, and the Olive Branch in January 2018 in the Afrin area against the SDF.

In February 2018, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu said that about 50 thousand Syrian refugees have returned to Syria after the beginning of the Euphrates Shield Operation.
