Al-Suwayda - SMART

On Monday, an armed group kidnapped two civilians on the road between the villages of Ariqah and Majadil in the Northern al-Suwayda countryside, Southern Syria.

Local sources told SMART that one of the kidnaped is from the village of al-Qalaa in the Jabal al-Shaykh area and the other is from the village Shaqqa, Eastern al-Suwayda. The sources said that the kidnappers also stole the car that two civilians were driving.

The sources added that local factions announced a public alert and began preparing to storm the farms close to the scene of the accident.

The al-Suwayda and Daraa governorates in Southern Syria have been home to dozens of kidnappings for years now, as activists accused the Syrian government forces of being responsible for a large number of the incidents.
