Clashes between NLF and HTS kill and injure civilians in Idlib

On Thursday, clashes between the National Liberation Front (NLF) and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) killed a child and injured five civilians, in the Idlib governorate, Northern Syria.

The NLF is an opposition group formed by the two Sunni Islamist groups Ahrar al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement. The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is the main rival of the NLF in Northwestern Syria.

The HTS  is an Islamist opposition faction previously known as the al-Nusra Front, consisting of fighting groups including the Haqq Brigade, Jabhat Ansar al-Din, and Jaysh al-Sunnah.

Activists reported that the ten-year-old child Muhammad al-Shayish was killed in the Ma’rata camp near the town of Tal-Minis in Southern Idlib, due to the clashes.  

The activists added that the 13-year-old child Dayana al-Shiyhan was injured in the camp of Zamzam of the Atma camps gathering, Northern Idlib. The activists added that the child was transported to a nearby hospital.

The clashes also injured a child and a senior man on the perimeter of the town of Heish, Southern Idlib. Four forcibly displaced people were injured due to clashes in the village of al-Ghadfa. The NLF gained control of al-Ghadfa following the clashes.

The clashes between the HTS and NLF expanded from the Western Aleppo to the Idlib governorate, and Northern Hama. The National Army sent reinforcements to confront the HTS.
