YPG arrests six people in eastern al-Raqqa

On Saturday, the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) arrested six people in the Haws area, 65 kilometers east of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

A military source from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported that the counterterrorism forces of the Autonomous Administration arrested six people in the villages of Khas Hbal, al-Kulaib, and Hamad Assaf in the area of Haws, on charges related to terrorism.

The source added that the arrests were deliberate and specific and targeted people according to a security study. The source stated that there is among the detainees a former Free Syrian Army fighter.

On Jan. 9, 2019, the Asayish forces of the Autonomous Administration arrested two people in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, for attempting to write pro-Syrian government slogans.

The SDF and Autonomous Administration forces frequently arrest young men from their controlled areas, Northeastern Syria, on charges of weapons and drugs trafficking, belonging to the Islamic State or to enlist them in compulsory recruitment.
