Hama - SMART

The Salvation Government operating in areas controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) intends to connect electricity from areas of northern Hama, Central Syria, to some areas in the governorate of Idlib.

The Syrian Salvation Government is an alternative Syrian government-affiliated with the HTS, formed without an election at the end of November 2017. It has been seated within the Idlib Governorate since the HTS took control of the border and the internal crossings to be against the Interim Syrian Government.

On Monday, a local official from Hama reported that the Salvation Government service office in the village of Kafr Nabuda informed tax collectors in the areas of al-Ghab Plain and Jabal Shahshabo that they intend to provide electricity ampere for these areas instead of electricity that will be transferred to the Atma village, northern Idlib.

The official added that the Salvation Government would allocate amperes operating 4 to 6 hours a day at 1,000 Syrian pounds per ampere. The Salvation Government will also provide the area with water throughout the day at the cost of 2,000 SYP per month.

Before that, the HTS gained control of the al-Ghab Plain and Jabal Shahshabo areas in Hama after an agreement with the Ahrar al-Sham Islamic Movement to dissolve its branch and hand over its heavy weapons to the HTS. The agreement also included putting the area under the Salvation Government control.

Earlier, the General Electricity Directorate announced an agreement between the Ahrar al-Sham’s Service Management Department and the HTS Civil Administration for Services, and to provide the residential areas in the Idlib governorate with electricity.
