Deir al-Zor - SMART

On Wednesday, the Syrian government forces arrested dissidents in al-Mayadeen, 45 kilometers southeast of Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, despite "settling their situations," which should allow them to continue their studies or work without persecution.

Local sources told SMART that the Syrian government security forces arrested 13 dissidents from the village of al-Taybeh on charges of treason, noting that they have been dissidents since 2012 and 2013.

The Syrian government forces carried out raids and arrest campaigns in several areas of Deir al-Zor during which they arrested young men for compulsory military service and on political charges.
