Aleppo - SMART

On Thursday, an infant died, and five members of one family were injured due to a fire in a camp for forcibly displaced people near the city of Jarabulus in Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Local sources reported that a heater in a tent started the fire in the camp of Zoughara, killing a three months old infant. Another child received first-grade burns, and four other members of her family were slightly burnt.

The source added that the child was transported to a hospital in Turkey; however, the rest members of her family were transported to the hospital in the city of Jarabulus.

On Saturday, a fire slightly injured a child in the al-Nour camp in the Azaz area in Aleppo. The child was transported to the nearby hospital of the Blue Crescent.

Fires are frequent in camps in Northern Syria due to misusing of unrefined fuel and children’s ignorance of the right way of using heaters, which causes fires, killing and injuring civilians, including women and children.
