Idlib - SMART

On Friday, a military commander of the Free Syrian Army's Jaysh al-Ezzah survived from an assassination attempt in the city of Khan Sheikhun, 55 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria.

The official spokesman for the Jaysh al-Ezzah, Captain Mustafa Maarati, reported that a device exploded in the car of the MD commander, called Abu Omar Tao, injuring him slightly. He was transferred to a nearby medical clinic in the area.

Maarati said that the Syrian government forces are the only beneficiary of the assassination because the MD caused losses in their military vehicles and equipment.

Earlier on Friday, an unknown explosion hits a headquarters of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) at the southern entrance of the city of Idlib, killing and injuring HTS fighters. Also, unknown persons in a car shot and injured three HTS members on the road to the city of Sarmada on the Syrian-Turkish border.

Assassinations and explosions frequently occur in the HTS-controlled areas in the governorates of Idlib and Aleppo. Most of the explosions target military commanders and fighters, but also kill and injure many civilians.
