Al-Hasakah - SMART

On Monday, a car bomb explosion injured a United States soldier and two Asayish forces members of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration. The explosion targeted a convoy of the International Coalition against the Islamic State (IS) while crossing near the city of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria, amidst conflicting reports on the casualties.

The Autonomous Administration media reported that the explosion slightly injured the US soldier and the Asayish members at the 47 checkpoint in the al-Shaddadi area while the International Coalition convoy was crossing.

The Asayish media also said that a terrorist drove the car bomb and blew it up 10 meters away from the checkpoint while the convoy was crossing.

Activists said that the explosion injured two US soldiers and killed five Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members accompanying them.

This is the second explosion that targeted the International Coalition forces in a week. On Wednesday, IS carried out an explosion in the city of Manbij, eastern Aleppo, killing and injuring 31 people, including US soldiers, members of SDF’s Manbij military council and civilians.
