SDF gains control of village in Deir al-Zor

On Wednesday, The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) gained control of the Mozan village in the area of al-Sousse in southeastern Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, after clashes with the Islamic State (IS).

SDF media stated on social media that the SDF combed the village in search of landmines and found a weapons warehouse.

The SDF added that it clashed with the IS in the vicinity of the al-Sousse town, killing a number of IS members and disarming landmines in the area, noting that a number of SDF fighters were wounded in the clashes and transported to hospitals.

The SDF stated that they killed 59 IS fighters in the clashes while six SDF fighters were wounded. The SDF noted that the International Coalition carried out 38 airstrikes on the IS' locations.

On January 18, 2019, the SDF gained control of the entire town of al-Sousse, after the IS withdrew from it.
