Deir al-Zor - SMART

On Sunday, eighty demonstrators protested in the village of al-Hassan in the Deir al-Zor countryside, Eastern Syria, against the local council belonging to the Deir al-Zor Civil Council.

Local sources reported that the protesters in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)-controlled village demanded a council re-election because the current council received bribes to direct humanitarian aid to the wrong people.

Residents continue to protest in SDF-controlled areas in Deir al-Zor, demanding improved health and education services. The residents also demanded the SDF to allow them to refine oil amidst the lack of job opportunities in the area.
