Al-Raqqa - SMART

On Tuesday, an Islamic State (IS)’ bomb explosion killed two civilians and injured two others in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

Local and security sources reported that the victims and the injured are workers who collect scrap. The sources added that the workers were looking for plastic materials and second-hand furniture in the Social Insurance building, which was a former IS a headquarters when the bomb exploded.

The sources added that the injured are still trapped in the building and security forces and ambulance teams attempt to pull them out but they couldn't because of the other landmines in the building. The sources said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) put warning signs on the perimeter of the building so that no one enters the building that includes landmines and bombs.

IS’ landmines explosions continue to hit al-Raqqa, killing and injuring people most of them civilians.
