Initial Response Team retrieves 11 bodies in al-Raqqa

On Wednesday, the Initial Response Team (IRT) of the al-Raqqa local council retrieved 11 bodies in the governorate of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

Sources from the IRT reported that they retrieved eight bodies from the mass grave near the village of Fikhikha, including a woman's body. The people also identified two men’s bodies that were handed over to their family.

The IRT retrieved two bodies from the rubble of a destroyed residential building in the neighborhood of al-Thakana and a body from the neighborhood of Nazlat Shehada in the city of al-Raqqa.

The sources stated that the unknown bodies were taken to the cemetery of Tal al-Bayah near the city of al-Raqqa to be buried.

On Jan. 22, 2019, the al-Raqqa local council began retrieving hundreds of bodies from a mass grave in the village of Fikhikha, where initial statistics indicate the presence of about 600 to 800 bodies.
