Homs - SMART

Syrian government forces killed two detainees under torture from one family from Homs, Central Syria.

On Wednesday, a close source to the family told SMART that the Syrian government forces provided the parents of the two young men Qassem and Zakaria Tlas death certificates of their sons. The parents got the death certificates when they went to the building of Homs Governorate to issue identity papers.

The sources added that the Syrian government forces arrested the young men in 2011, noting that the last time they heard about Qasim when was in the 215 branches affiliated with the military intelligence in the region of Kafr Sousa in Damascus.

On June 26, 2018, the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that the Syrian government forces killed more than 13,000 detainees under torture.

Human rights activists accuse the international community of failing to pressure the Syrian government to reveal the fate of hundreds of thousands of detainees and those forcibly disappeared in its prisons and to hold him accountable for his crimes against thousands of them.
