About one million people were displaced in 2019 as a result of the military campaigns launched by the Syrian government forces and Russia.

The SNHR issues periodic human rights reports documenting violations and attacks committed by all military parties operating in Syria in the past eight years. The SNHR's reports document those who were killed by bombing or tortured to death, and others document arbitrary detention and forced recruitment.

Human rights activists accuse the international community of failing to put pressure on the Syrian government to reveal the fate of hundreds of thousands of detainees and forcibly disappeared persons in its prisons and to hold it accountable for its crimes committed against thousands of them.
